"I say I wanna give You glory Lord, and I do
But everything that I could ever find to offer comes from You
But if my darkness can praise Your light
You give me breath, and I'll give my life to sing Your praise" ~ Rich Mullins

The Lost Quilter by Jennifer Chiaverini

You can't go wrong with an Elm Creek Quilt book! As always, I loved this. I love how the author alternated between contemporary and historical fiction, with quilts always playing a part of the story.

This book takes us back in time to the Civil War and Slavery, picking up the story of the "runaway quilter" and providing us with a few more clues to Silvia's past.

I love learning history through historical fiction and this is an era that I have a particular interest in. This gives some insights into slave life on the plantation. The mentality of the slave owners and the slaves.

Most of this book is told in the past with only the prologue and epilogue in the present. Which helps as I realized that I skipped a book! There is another Elm Creek Quilt book that I missed! But, since it sounds like a contemporary book and this one was historical, reading out of order shouldn't pose a problem.
